The Baptist Church of Roermond
Miel de Rechter, pastor
The most important service of the week in this Dutch speaking church is the Sunday morning worship service at 10 AM. Central to this service are worship and the preaching of God’s Word. Every two weeks the Lord’s Supper is celebrated. Every other week on Wednesday evening starting at 8 PM our church meets in homes spread over five locations in the city for fellowship, Bible Study and prayer.
Sunday Services
Each Sunday morning there is a worship service from 10-11:30 AM. Afterwards
we drink coffee together until 1 PM.
Teen Meetings
We have a 12 + group (age 12 to 15 years) a 15 + group (age 15 to 18
years) and an 18 + group (age 18-24 years) meeting throughout the week
at different locations in the evening and on Sunday mornings.
Children’s Meetings
On Sunday morning children 0-2 years (pareltjes), 2-6 years (lammetjes),
6-9 years (morgensterren) and 9-12 years (antennes) meet together.
Family Days
Each year we organize a church picnic for all interested families and
members of our church. In this way, families not yet familiar with our
church are able to meet with us in a different setting.
Conferences
Each year we organize a church conference. This conference lasting
three days has continued to bring spiritual growth and unity to our church
for more than fifteen years.
Prayer Evenings and Mornings
Each Monday morning we meet for a prayer breakfast at 6.30-7.30 AM.
Once each month our church meets for prayer on Tuesday evening from 8-9.30
PM.
Once a year for three days the whole church meets for a time of prayer
and fasting. We reside in a conference center meeting together four times
daily for prayer lasting two hours each session.
Ladies Meetings
Once a month the women of our church meet on Wednesday morning. Also
two or three time a year our ladies meet in the evening to promote fellowship
and friendship.
Men’s Meetings
Three to four times each year the men meet on Saturday morning. This
has as a goal interdependent fellowship as well as the reinforcing
our involvement in the ministry and the church.
Leadership Meeting
Once each month the home Bible Study leaders meet with the pastor to
discuss the program and involvement of the members in the home meetings.
Service in the church
Characteristic of this church is that a major part of our financial
resources (approximately 35% of the total budget) is spent on Missions
and evangelization. Furthermore our church exists because of a strong youth
and young family ministry. If our youth were to quit serving in our church
we would grind to a halt and no longer be able to function.
